New build shipped to users in the Fast ring

Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 20H1 preview build to users enrolled in the Fast ring of the Windows Insider program.

Windows 10 build 18941 doesn’t bring too many changes, but it does include updates for the Korean IME, which according to Microsoft should make the IME “more secure, reliable, and more beautiful to look at.”

“For those who’re familiar with typing in Korean, the changes will be most noticeable if you write in Hanja; we have a new candidate selection window that uses modern controls and clearer typography,” Dona Sarkar, chief of the Windows Insider program, said.

“We have also improved the algorithm used for text prediction when writing Korean using the touch keyboard. Text suggestions should now be more accurate and relevant to what you are writing.”

Microsoft says these new features roll out in waves to users in the Fast ring.

One critical issue

There are also several other fixes and improvements, and one highlight concerns Windows Update. According to Microsoft, this update corrects a bug that caused the search result for advanced Windows Update options to open the main Windows Update page and not the advanced configuration screen.

There’s also a fix for explorer.exe crashes when performing a search in File Explorer within a OneDrive folder.

One important thing to know is that this build might fail to install for some, just like its predecessor. The error code is c1900101, and it happens because of a compatibility bug with a storage driver.

“The PC will attempt to install, fail, and successfully roll back to the currently installed build on the PC. Attempted re-tries to install the build, either manual or automatic, will not bypass this issue. A fix is forthcoming, but there are no known workarounds currently,” Microsoft says.

A workaround does exist, and a full patch is projected to be included in a future build release.
