14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has just released Windows 10 build 14379 for users enrolled in the fast ring, thus getting one step closer to the launch of the Anniversary Update on August 2.
Build 14379 doesn’t bring any new features, so it’s fully about bug fixes and performance improvements, and this certainly makes sense. The Anniversary Update is now feature-locked, so Microsoft’s priority is to refine the experience that users will get with this update by addressing the bugs that insiders find when testing it.
The good thing is that the known issues section contains fewer and fewer entries with every new release, and today’s build, for instance, comes with just one bug for PC users. If you attempt to use Continuum from your phone on your PC with the Connect app, this won’t work, but Microsoft promises to release a fix in the next build.
New builds late next week
And as far as the next build is concerned, it is very likely to land next week, but certainly not on Monday, as Microsoft’s employees are also celebrating the Fourth of July with a day off. But more news in this regarding will definitely surface towards the end of the week.
“We in Redmond are about to take off for the long weekend to celebrate the 4th of July weekend, BUT before then we wanted to give you what we’ve been working on. Today we are releasing Build 14379 for both PC and Mobile to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring with another batch of bug fixes based on feedback,” Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, explained.
Today’s build is only available for users who are part of the fast ring in the Windows Insider program, but depending on how bug fixing advances, Microsoft could very well release it to the slow track too. For the moment, however, it’s very clear that the Anniversary Update is taking shape quite nicely.
