Work on Windows 10 continues behind closed doors at Microsoft, and living proof is the number of leaks happening lately, which show us new builds of the operating system that might be released to insiders at some point in the near future.

Today, Russian group WZor, who has a good track of leaking Windows 10 builds and screenshots, has posted a new collection of photos showing build 10540, which is supposedly the latest version of the new OS that Microsoft has sent to its partners.

As you can see in the photo gallery below, Windows 10 build 10540 doesn’t bring any major changes, but it does come with some small refinements here and there, which is actually confirmation that Microsoft’s not yet ready to introduce new features and tools, but only to improve the performance of the current OS version.

Part of Threshold 2

Build 10540 is part of TH2, the next branch of Windows 10 that’s supposed to include its first major update coming later this year.

There are no details coming from Microsoft regarding this update, but people close to the matter previously hinted that the company was planning to release it in October or November, depending on how smoothly the development process would go.

The very same update is also likely to bring changes to some Windows 10 apps, among which Edge browser, which could get new features such as extension support. Right now, it’s not yet clear whether Microsoft’s planning to bring this major Edge addition with the upcoming Windows 10 update, but the next few months will bring plenty of improvements for users of its new OS, both for the core platform and for the included apps.

As far as build 10540 is concerned, expect leaks to happen soon, so in case you’re into unofficial releases, you might have another ISO to deploy in your VM anytime soon.
