Official documentation for 10240 now available

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 build 10240 RTM to insiders last week, but the company has only revealed few changes that are available in this new version.

Today, however, Russian leaker WZor has posted more information on this particular build, publishing online the official documentation that Microsoft sends to partners every time a new version is ready in order to tell them about changes and new features that are included.

The full string of this build is 10240.16384.150709-1700 and the documentation is dated July 21, 2015, so Microsoft might have shipped another version of Windows 10 to partners ahead of the big launch on July 29.

Just as expected, there are plenty of bug fixes included in this release, but the breaking changes section comes with some new mentions regarding Windows activation.

“Windows will not activate, but it should not impact functionality for your testing purposes. If you run Windows 10 setup for an activated downlevel OS, you will not be prompted for a key as long as the edition of the downlevel OS matches the Windows 10 edition that you are upgrading to. If you try a cross-edition upgrade of Windows 10 (for example, from an activated Windows 10 Home edition on build 10163 to 10240 Windows 10 Pro, then you will be prompted for a product key,” documents read.

It still has bugs

Interestingly, Microsoft has a long list of known bugs for 10240, despite the fact that this particular Windows 10 version is supposed to be RTM, which means that it’s supposed to be installed by OEMs on new devices and shipped to users who want to get the final bits.

Microsoft still works on Windows 10 and the company has already mentioned that it pushed its operating system to the Windows as a Service concept, explaining that updates and patches will be released much more often, exactly when they are ready.

So bug fixes and patches for all these issues should arrive much sooner, but in case you come across any major issue in Windows 10, have a look on the docs in the photo gallery to find out whether this is a known bug or not.
