Windows 10 build 10154 was released to partners earlier today and now thanks to a leak, we can finally have a look at the release notes and see what’s new in this fresh version.

First and foremost, it’s important to note that this isn’t the final version of Windows 10, but another testing build that Microsoft has released to partners with the purpose of collecting feedback.

And just like the company promised, no software updates are in this version, the leaked release notes reveal, so the full focus was on fixing bugs and improving performance of apps and of the operating system.

There are plenty of bug fixes available in build 10154, including some that are aimed at the Microsoft Edge browser (starting with version 10147, Edge browser is part of Windows 10 preview, so the rebranding process from Project Spartan has finally been completed).

For example, “when a user shut down Microsoft Edge, restarts the device, and then relaunches Microsoft Edge after the device boots up, the Microsoft Edge now launches fresh, as expected. Before this fix, Microsoft Edge would recover when relaunched in this situation,” the release notes reveal.

Windows 7 upgrade improvements

Microsoft also worked on the upgrade from previous versions of Windows to Windows 10 to make sure that everything’s running smoothly, so if, for instance, you try to upgrade from Windows 7, installed antivirus software will prompt you to update the application with a toast notification.

The company says that it also fixed a bug that “was causing the device manager to erroneously display a yellow bang for various devices after upgrading to the latest version of Windows 10 Insider Preview.”

Bugs still exist in this version, so for example OneDrive might not work as expected, child accounts may fail to function in the family safety menu, the Narrator doesn’t handle password management correctly in Microsoft.

We’re probably only hours away from the moment when this build will leak and will be up for grabs, so we’ll keep you posted on this.
