The upcoming Project NEON is certainly generating excitement in the Windows community, as it’s projected to bring visual tweaks to Windows 10 that users really enjoy having on their devices, including here the super-popular blur and transparency effects.

The concept you see here was created by lukeled and imagines a new look for the Action Center (you can check out a concept imagining a Start menu overhaul here).

As you can see for yourselves, the Action Center received a major overhaul in the concept, but what’s odd is that, at first glance, it seems to look even better than Microsoft’s own implementation in Windows 10.

The quick actions have been redesigned with a new and more modern look, and so have been notifications. The Action Center background uses the same transparency and blur combination that’s likely to be integrated into many more apps once Project NEON becomes an official design language for Windows 10.

And speaking of Project NEON, let’s see what we know so far. Basically, Project NEON is a set of improvements that Microsoft is projected to introduce in a future Windows 10 update. And although the Creators Update is the next important project on the company’s roadmap, it appears that the firm needs more time to get it ready, so expect Project NEON to see daylight only in Redstone 3, which is due in the fall.

NEON is supposed to rely on several visual effects, including transparency and blue, but also animations and transition effects, and Microsoft will implement them all in its universal apps before the debut of Redstone 3, so insiders should start seeing them in the summer.

Eventually, all developers will be able to embrace this design language for their own apps, so Redstone 3 is the next big release in terms of a visual overhaul to the Windows 10 interface.
