Renders imagine the possible curved iPhone model

Rumor has it that Apple might be planning a truly curved iPhone model that would go beyond what others have been looking into, mostly in an attempt to finally bring a major makeover to its flagship product.

And while this project is still believed to be on the table, which means there are 50-50 chances to see it going live sometime in the next couple of years, others have already tried to imagine what the whole thing could look like if Apple gives it the go-ahead.

Concept designer Martin Hajek, who has until now envisioned what several new iPhone models could look like in high-quality renders, has tried to sketch the appearance of a possible curved handset.

The photos, which have been published by iDrop, show the possible curved iPhone getting worryingly close in terms of design to Nokia’s banana phone, which for some looks interesting, but which for others appears to be impossible to use.

Banana phone? I really hope not

While it’s hard to tell whether the new iPhone could look anywhere like this, it’s worth highlighting something that could help Apple set the device apart from the competition.

According to the speculation that made the rounds these days, what Cupertino plans to do is push the curved design concept one step further as compared to its rivals. For instance, Samsung is already using curved displays, but instead of having the entire phone following a curved body, the South Korean firm is only embracing this approach for the edges of the screen.

Apple, on the other hand, might be planning to make the whole iPhone curved, thoughby the looks of things, this could really be a nightmare in terms of usability, especially for people who want to carry their phones around in their pockets.

Certainly, it’ll take a while until Apple comes up with the final design of this possible iPhone, so for the time being, the concept pictured here is all we got.
