Whoopi Goldberg is no longer standing by Bill Cosby in the rape scandal, says he must speak up

Bill Cosby is in serious trouble, The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg finally admitted on yesterday’s show. Evidence made available in the court of public opinion points out that he’s a serial rapist who has been using his fame, money and connections to silence his victims for over 30 years.

He needs to step up and do something about this.

Those following the Cosby scandal must know that Whoopi has been one of his most vocal and determined defenders. She even stood by him last week, when a 2005 deposition was unsealed and it was revealed that he had actually admitted in court to buying Quaaludes with the purpose of passing them to women so he could sleep with them.

Her line of defense has always been “he’s innocent until proven guilty.” On the most recent show, ABC legal consultant Dan Abrams explained to her how there was no chance of that ever happening, for the simple fact that the statute of limitations on all the alleged crimes had passed.

Over 40 women have stepped forward in recent months to identify as Cosby’s victims. Some of them said that he drugged and raped them as long as 30 years ago, others claimed the attacks had taken place in more recent years.

Unfortunately for the victims, not one could pursue this legally because of the statute of limitations. As Whoopi learned, their only recourse was going public with the story and have the court of public opinion “punish” Cosby.

“I can’t say any more ‘innocent until proven guilty’,” Whoopi said. “It looks bad, Bill. Either speak up or shut up, cause people know now there’s a lot more out there than they thought.”
