14 DAY TRIAL // A white version of the Wear OS-powered TicWatch S2 is now available for purchase, coming with the same feature package as the original black model but with a fresh look.
TicWatch S2, which is available for $179.99 from Mobvoi’s official website, is powered by a Snapdragon Wear 2100 chip and features a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a 400x400 px resolution.
Despite being rather large, the S2 is the first Mobvoi smartwatch to achieve a US Military Standard-819G rating, which means it should withstand temperatures between -30 degrees Celsius and 70 degrees Celsius, 44℃ solar radiation, and 95% humidity. It’s also salt fog, sand and dust, shock resistant.
As I said in my original TicWatch S2 review, this smartwatch is a very capable device, and the spec sheet is living proof. With a rich arsenal of sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart-rate sensor, and a low-latency off-body sensor, the TicWatch S2 does nearly everything that other smartwatches do, with Mobvoi promising even more advanced features coming soon.
Sleep monitoring on its way
For example, the company earlier this year said it was working on a fall detection system for its smartwatches. Fall detection already exists on the Apple Watch, and it displays whenever it detects a sudden drop or fall of the person wearing the device. It can also reach out to emergency contacts or services if no input from the user is provided.
Sleep tracking is also on its way to the TicWatch S2, according to the company.
The TicWatch S2 also includes activity tracking features, and for example, it can automatically detect when you’re working out and begin the tracking without user input.
Like all the other TicWatch smartwatches, the S2 (both white and black) can work with Android and iOS. So despite running Wear OS, it’s not limited to Android, which can only be good news for Apple users who enjoy the design and features of the TicWatch.
