More users will be allowed to join a group chat

WhatsApp is a platform that’s continuously growing, and of course, the parent company must refine the app in a way that better addresses customers’ needs.

This is precisely the purpose of one of the latest features currently in the works at WhatsApp, as it looks like the application will soon increase the maximum number of users allowed in a group chat.

At this point, once a group chat on WhatsApp reaches 512 users, there’s no way other people can join, and of course, this is quite a major limitation.

As the world started working remotely, you can imagine that some companies out there are trying to keep people in touch and provide them with easy communications via WhatsApp. For a large organization, however, the 512-member limitation was quite a major headache, and it looks like the company knows this very well.

After the June increase to 512 members allowed in group chats, WhatsApp is now getting ready for another change for this particular feature.

No information as to when the feature could launch

WABetaInfo has discovered that WhatsApp will soon allow a maximum of 1,024 members for group chats, with the feature already being included in the most recent beta builds of the application. At this point, however, there’s no ETA as to when it could be released to users, but given the change mostly takes place on the server-side of the service, it shouldn’t take too long before it goes live for everybody.

The purpose right now is to get more feedback on how everything works, so WhatsApp hasn’t shared information on when it’s targeting the general availability.

Most likely, the new increase in the number of users allowed in group chats will happen later this year, but of course, this is just a guess on our side. Needless to say, once the limit is increased, it will be live on both iPhone and Android, so pretty much anyone can join the larger group chats.
