This could be a problem related to WhatsApp servers

WhatsApp is getting lots of improvements on iPhone and Android, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that everything is always working exactly as you’d expect it to work.

And iPhone users know this very well, as the app has started to mysteriously crash for some unlucky fellows due to what could be a problem related to the connection to the WhatsApp servers.

More specifically, it appears that some WhatsApp users running the app on iPhones struggle with a glitch that causes a crash on load. In other words, once you click the WhatsApp icon and the app loads, it also crashes nearly instantly, making it impossible to send messages or make a call.

The problem affects not only the standard WhatsApp client but also WhatsApp for Business, and this once again suggests the whole thing is caused by a server-side glitch.

Not everybody is affected

As noted by 9to5mac, WhatsApp hasn’t received any updates lately that could have caused this mysterious crash, so most likely, it’s all happening once the client attempts to connect to the servers to start the instant messaging service on the iPhone.

In other words, removing and reinstalling WhatsApp wouldn’t make any difference, so if you’re also struggling with this problem, your only option is to just wait for WhatsApp to come up with a fix.

Interestingly, not everybody is affected, so it’s probably related to a specific region. WhatsApp is working fine for us here in Europe, and no crashes are occurring whatsoever.

For the time being, the parent company has remained tight-lipped on what exactly is happening, but on the other hand, it looks like users are only encountering intermittent issues for now. This means the glitch comes and goes, probably as the connectivity issues to the server are being resolved by WhatsApp.
