There’s a new button in the share sheet to make a transfer

Many people don’t know this, but WhatsApp actually allows users to transfer money right from within the app, as long as a bank account is configured.

The whole thing works exactly as you’d expect it to work. In a conversation with a contact, you tap this option to send funds, choose how much you want to transfer, and then tap a complete button to make the transaction.

It’s really that easy, though, for the time being, this feature is only offered in a limited number of countries and only on some devices.

More straightforward transactions

But according to a report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is now preparing a new way to make transactions right from within the app, all by simply tapping the share button.

In other words, beginning with this update, currently part of the beta channel on Android, users would be able to just tap the share button, just like they’d be planning to send a photo or video, and then find a payment button to initiate a money transfer. The rest of the process is pretty similar to how it worked before.

As it turns out, this new update would be specifically aimed at Samsung’s new foldable devices, namely the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3. But for the time being, there’s no ETA as to when it could make its way to all users out there, though just like before, this payment feature would continue to be offered only to devices in some specific regions.

In the meantime, WhatsApp is also working on its multi-device support, which should allow users to enable the same account on more than one device, including tablets. It’s believed the company also wants to add support for iPads as part of this new feature.
