Finally, a feature that actually comes in handy

I don’t know about you but one of the most useful features on the likes of Microsoft Teams is the support for message reactions, as it sometimes comes in handy whenever you want to end a conversation without sending another message.

Message reactions are also super-useful in groups for things like announcements, as people can therefore react to a new message without directly replying to it.

WhatsApp knows this very well, especially given reactions have been around for so long on Facebook, so the messaging platform is now getting ready to bring this feature to users out there.

WABetaInfo writes that messages reactions are now rolling out to users running beta builds of WhatsApp on Android as part of version 2.22.8.3.

The included reactions are like, love, joy, surprised, sad, and thanks, but it’s not yet clear if more can be added at a later time. At this point, however, WhatsApp’s main focus is bringing this feature to everybody out there.

WhatsApp tightlipped on the new feature

Unfortunately, WhatsApp has remained completely tight-lipped on everything regarding the debut of message reactions in its messaging clients, so nobody knows precisely when this is going to happen.

Of course, the new feature will go live on both Android and iPhone, even though right now, the development seems to focus mostly on Google’s mobile operating system.

WhatsApp will be one of the latest popular messaging platforms to get message reactions, as most of its rivals already offer such functionality. Telegram, for instance, has recently introduced animated message reactions that show up on the entire screen in a way that people seem to love.

For WhatsApp, it’s apparently better late than never, so it’ll definitely be one of the features to look for when the company officially starts the rollout to production devices out there.
