The folks over at WhatsApp have been improving their Windows Phone application for quite some time now.

In order to make it easier for users to receive the stable updates that don't break things that were already working, WhatsApp kicked off a beta program for the application.

WhatsApp beta for Windows Phone has been updated several times in the last couple of months, but few of these updates reached the stable version of the application.

The good news is developers have just released a new version of WhatsApp Messenger in Windows Store.

Although the update doesn't come with an official changelog, the folks over at Plaffo have been able to point out some of the new features and improvements that have been implemented in this version.

First of all, if you're already using WhatsApp on your Windows Phone, then you should know the application has been updated to version 2.12.170, so if you don't have this build, then check for an update in Windows Store.

Still waiting for an official changelog

As the title says, the new version of WhatsApp adds more emoji including the middle finger that many Windows Phone users have been waiting for.

The middle finger emoji has been available on iOS and Android versions of WhatsApp for quite some time now, but once again, Windows Phone users have been skipped from its release.

Moeover, the update should bring a better search feature, which will allow users to find messages, chats, and contacts faster than before.

Last but not least, new wallpapers have been added, along with in-app audio notifications, which wasn't available until now. If you notice any other changes than the ones mentioned earlier, don't hesitate to let us know in the comments section.

You can now download WhatsApp Messenger for Windows Phone for free via Windows Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Windows Phone 8 and up.
