WhatsApp beta 2.17.44 has implemented an abundance of emojis as part of the Unicode 9.0 and Emoji 4.0 packages, the former of which is found in iOS 10.2. In addition, some of the characters that Google proposed last year to the Unicode committee were included in Android 7.1 and now made their way to WhatsApp.

Emojis are something that mobile users can find in abundance, especially since every messaging app comes with loads of emojis that you can use in order to express yourself in a more graphic way. Still, some very obvious options were made available only recently.

Facepalm and bacon haven’t been illustrated in emojis, which is quite odd considering that “facepalm” has been used for years for expressing one’s dismay, and there’s no need to say why the delicious bacon is so popular.

Emojis illustrating gender equality and professions

WhatsApp beta now includes all the emojis that you could find on iOS 10.2 and Android 7.1, without requiring your phone to run on the latest Android version, according to Android Police. This way, if your friend who uses iOS 10.2 or Android 7.1 sends you an avocado emoji, you can suggest an alternative, like bacon, using the new emoji.

Other new emojis are a clown, a girl and a boy doing a facepalm, a shrug, a butterfly, a nauseated face, a dancing boy, a whiskey glass, and many more.

Moreover, there are quite a few emojis illustrating gender equality and professions shared by both men and women, including skin variations and somewhat anthropomorphic looks. The emojis show professions like teacher, computer programmer, cook, farmer, scientist, doctor, and more.

If you wish to use these new emojis, you’ll need to enroll in the WhatsApp beta program. Once the beta testing ends, the new emojis will start rolling out to all WhatsApp users, not just beta testers.
