This update is available now for Windows insiders

As I reported yesterday, Microsoft rolled out a refreshed version of cumulative update KB4469342 to Windows insiders in the Release Preview ring.

And today, the company shared more details about this updated version of its patch, revealing what exactly it fixes in Windows 10 October 2018 Update for insiders.

While you can check out the entire changelog in the box after the jump, worth mentioning is a bug fix for an issue that broke down drag and drop in Microsoft Edge for file uploads to the cloud. Microsoft explains:

“Addresses an issue in Microsoft Edge with using the drag-and-drop feature to upload folders from the Windows desktop to a file hosting service website, such as Microsoft OneDrive. In some scenarios, files contained in the folders fail to upload, with possibly no error reported on the web page to the user.”

No word on known issues

Microsoft is also fixing the brightness issue in Windows 10 version 1809 which I wrote about several weeks ago, as well as the file associations issue that the company acknowledged in early November. This particular glitch exists on both Windows 10 version 1803 and 1809, and users running October 2018 Update should receive the fix when the next cumulative update goes live.

Cumulative update KB4469342 also repairs black screens experienced on some servers when waking devices from sleep, as well as Bluetooth problems when receiving audio.

Microsoft hasn’t said anything about any potential known issues in this update, but more information will probably be shared when this cumulative update gets the go-ahead for production devices. There’s no ETA as to when this is expected to happen, but we’re guessing it wouldn’t take long given that some fixes were expected in late November anyway.

For now, if you’re part of the Windows Insider program and enrolled in the Release Preview ring, make sure you get this update and test it thoroughly to help Microsoft prevent any other errors from hitting users’ computers.
