Microsoft has published a new batch of cumulative updates for Windows 10, and in addition to the April 2018 Update, the Fall Creators Update is getting its own share of goodies too.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, also known as version 1709, is being patched with cumulative update KB4345420, which first and foremost changes the OS build number to 16299.550. This means that after installing the cumulative update, this is the version number that you should see in the about section of your system.

The changelog is pretty much the same as in the case of the April 2018 Update patch, though it’s worth knowing that this time, KB4345420 also comes with two known issues.

In terms of improvements and fixes, Microsoft says it has addressed a BSOD caused by the July 2018 Patch Tuesday cumulative update and experienced on devices running network monitoring workloads, as well as a bug that broke down DHCP configurations and let some PCs without a network connection.

Known issues

There are two known issues in this cumulative update, and both of them are inherited from the previous releases. Microsoft says KB4345420 may cause some non-English platforms to display a number of strings in English instead of a localized language when Device Guard is enabled.

The bug can be spotted in two different instances, and Microsoft says that it’s already working on fixes for both of them, with a resolution expected in an upcoming release.

With the next Patch Tuesday rollout happening in mid-August, it’s important for IT admins to check out these two known issues by heading over to the official KB page. Without a workaround, the only solution is to delay the patching, as Microsoft hasn’t offered a temporary solution that would help users resolve the glitches until a new cumulative update lands.
