Adobe has just announced new versions of Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements, two suites that are supposed to help users with their photo and video editing needs without the need for the full feature package bundled with the more expensive versions.

Needless to say, both the Photoshop Elements 2021 and Premiere Elements 2021 come with massive improvements for these new updates, and one of the most notable is the addition of five new Guided Edits.

The new Guided Edits in Photoshop Elements are the following, according to Adobe itself:

  • Duotones – Create modern duotones by applying cool, custom effects to your photos for a beautiful two-color creation. You can choose from custom preset social sizes, add a gradient, and more!
  • Perfect Landscapes – Powered by Adobe Sensei, this Guided Edit teaches you to easily replace skies, remove haze, and erase unwanted objects to create epic outdoor scenes.
  • Move, Scale, and Duplicate Objects – It’s now easier than ever to select an object and change its position, size, and more. Follow this step-by-step guide to make your creation look exactly how you want.

Premiere Elements is getting two new Guided Edits, as it follows:

  • Double Exposure – This photo editing effect continues to grow in popularity, so we’re making your life easier with the double exposure video Guided Edit. Just follow the simple steps to play a video within a photo and get the best of both worlds.
  • Animated Matte Overlays – With this Guided Edit you’ll learn how to apply different shapes and animation styles to full videos, and select scenes or transitions to create animated matte overlays.

With this update, Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements reach no less than 83 Guided Edits, thus helping users edit photos and videos in a more straightforward manner.

Another notable improvement in this update is the addition of automatic backups of catalog structure.

Adobe, however, has also added more new-generation features, and one of them is support for moving photos. If the concept sounds familiar to you, it’s because such images have been around for a while as Live Photos on the iPhone, so beginning with this update, Adobe offers support for moving photos with 2D and 3D camera motion effects powered by Adobe Sensei AI technology.

Furthermore, the new apps now allow uses to add quotes and messages to pics using a collection of pre-set templates, as well as several animations and personalization settings.

There are also substantial improvements for making more precise selections, creating double exposure videos, and adding animated matter overlays.

Of course, this is a massive release, and just as expected, the changelog is huge and includes plenty of other improvements exactly in those areas that matter the most for users. Adobe says most of the improvements are based on user feedback, so overall, Photoshop Elements 2021 and Premiere Elements 2021 should both align with what you need on your device.

For example, Adobe as also added GPU Accelerated Performance to improve the time needed to make more advanced edits and render them, as well as new music tracks, support for tags and keywords, and so much more.

All in all, this is an update that users should really give a try to, though as usual, Adobe’s applications don’t come cheap, though as compared to the fully featured software aimed at professional photographers, they can both be considered affordable tools. Adobe is selling the two products at $99 each, but at the same time, the company is also offering a series of other bundles and upgrades that existing customers could use to get the new software.
