14 DAY TRIAL // HP used the CES 2019 show to take the wraps off another update to the Spectre lineup, and this time the company has become the pioneer of AMOLED displays in a 15-inch laptop form factor.
The Spectre 15 x360 will be available with an AMOLED display that will allow for more vivid colors and a faster response time. HDR support will also be offered, and HP says a wider viewing angle will be available as well.
The Spectre lineup was already refreshed in late 2018, so there are no other changes in the hardware department for this new model. In other words, it can still be ordered with the latest-generation Intel processors, which can be paired with a maximum of 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage.
While OLED laptops aren’t something entirely new right now, a 15-inch screen on the Spectre makes this particular model even more advanced than it currently is, pushing its premium approach closer to leaders like Apple’s MacBook.
Other HP devices at CES
Of course, HP’s device runs on Windows 10, and you get the full feature benefits of Microsoft’s operating system, while also getting top-notch performance. The latest-generation Spectre 15, for instance, offers 20 percent more performance than the previous generation, and it can be ordered with an optional NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti with Max Q design.
Unfortunately, however, HP hasn’t said anything about the prices of this OLED model, though you shouldn’t by any means expect it to come cheap.
The device will go on sale in March, so more information in this regard should make the rounds in March.
HP has also unveiled the HP Spectre Folio in Bordeaux Burgundy and with a 4K display available as optional. Pricing of this configuration begins at $1,309.99. An upgrade for the OMEN Obelisk Desktop was presented at CES with 64GB of HyperX memory, up to 9th Generation Intel Core i9-9900K CPU, dual SSD with RAID0, liquid cooling, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics starting from $2,249.99.
