She’s meaner than Kim Kardashian and Beyonce “put together” and smarter, which is why she’s the queen of Instagram

Earlier this week, Taylor Swift became the reigning queen of Instagram, surpassing Beyonce and Kim Kardashian in terms of followers. Ask Wendy Williams about it and she’ll tell you that this achievement wouldn’t have been possible without Taylor’s wholesome image - and her hidden mean streak.

You wouldn’t think Taylor is mean when you scroll through her pictures on social media, all of them showing her with her cats, hanging out with her girlfriends and basically being the kind of cool girl anyone would like for a friend, but that’s exactly what she is. Wendy is convinced of it.

Being a wholesome role model is part of Taylor’s strategy

On her latest episode of Hot Topics, talk show host Wendy Williams discussed how Taylor came to beat Beyonce and Kim on social media. The achievement isn’t a small one: Beyonce is arguably the biggest pop entertainer right now, while Kim has perfected the art of self-promotion on social media, yet Taylor still came out on top.

That’s because she’s covert and subtle about the way she’s representing herself, Wendy say. She’s also wholesome and would never rely on her sexuality to go up in popularity, mostly because she found something better: the image of herself as a relatable celebrity.

“People like Taylor and I think that the reason why also is a hidden secret of mean,” Wendy says (video below). “I think that she is probably meaner than Beyonce and Kim put together. In my mind, Taylor Swift is the Queen of the Mean. She’s sneaky and smart about doing it which makes her smarter than the other two.”

Kim and Beyonce still have a chance, but only if they play it cool

Wendy explains that Taylor’s sneakiness is all about “tricking us” into seeing her as a “good woman,” one who cooks and bakes, and only hangs out with his girlfriends and who would never post a cleavage-y selfie. Or one in which signs of retouching to make herself look slimmer would be visible, like Beyonce did.

So, she concludes, Beyonce and Kim still have a chance of getting back in the game, but it would imply changing their image to be more like Taylor’s.

They would have to be less obvious about “their thing,” more covert. They would have to play the “relatable” card, because it would make them less “celebrities” and more “real.”
