A new software update has just started to arrive on Pixi Plus devices on Verizon Wireless' airwaves, namely the webOS 1.4.5 platform version, which was deployed for Sprint's users

a few weeks ago.

According to the release notes for the new software solution, there are not too many changes that users would sport when it lands on their devices.

Interestingly enough, the solution is aimed only at the Palm Pixi Plus handsets, while Pre Plus phones would still have to wait for it to arrive.

A recent post on PreCentral.net suggests that the solution would become available for Pre Plus both at Verizon and AT&T in the near future.

As for the novelties that webOS 1.4.5 brings to Pixi Plus devices out there, we can count: - Palm Pixi and Palm Pixi Plus phones can now run 3D games and other apps developed with the webOS PDK. Check App Catalog for titles that are compatible with your phone. - This release includes minor fixes and enhancements to support the public release of the webOS PDK. - If a user enters text in a field on certain websites, the screen focus now remains on the text being entered. - This release fixes a rare problem so that podcasts now download correctly.

At the same time, the release notes for this solution include reference to patches for several security issues the Palm webOS software had.

“We’d like to thank Nils of MWR InfoSecurity and Chris Clark for their help in identifying the issues addressed in this release. Individuals interested in contacting Palm to report suspected security issues can find more information at palm.com/security,” the development team notes.

As stated above, Sprint also delivered the OS update to its users, enabling them to benefit from the PDK 3D Gaming features that Palm has long touted for its devices.

It still remains to be seen when Pre Plus users would be able to enjoy the new solution, but it might not be too long before that happens, it seems.
