Best you don't try to recreate these experiments at home

TheBackyardScientist and his undying love for molten aluminum are back, all geared up and ready to entertain those of us with an appetite for destruction.

This time, the science enthusiast pours about a bucket's worth of the liquid metal into three unlucky melons, a honeydew and two cantaloupes.

TheBackyardScientist seems to really enjoy the experience, but the melons don't look all that happy about having molten aluminum poured into them.

They keep spitting out the liquid metal, together with Steam and even some smoke. In the end, however, science prevails and the melons have their insides fried.

Once the honeydew and the two cantaloupes cool, TheBackyardScientist uses a knife to cut them open and have a look inside. The dead fruits let out a foul odor, but he isn't discouraged.

He finds that, as the molten aluminum cooled and turned solid inside the watermelons, it took the shape of the fruits' core, complete with some seeds embedded in it.

The cantaloupes produced some rather odd-looking aluminum sculptures, but the honeydew formed a lump of metal somewhat resembling a hand grenade.

It's not exactly a work of art, but TheBackyardScientist seems rather satisfied with the result. Then again, he's quite excited about any experiment involving molten aluminum.

“I poured aluminum in two more melons, honeydew and cantaloupe. It turned out really cool, giving a perfect cast of the inside of a melon. It looked just like a hand grenade!” he writes in the video's description.
