Fallout 76 is a lifeless game. There are no human NPC and all the story bits are delivered through audio tapes that you find throughout the barren world. The lack of NPCs was one of the biggest disappointments of the game, which, fortunately, is about to get fixed.

Although it's a bit late, perhaps those who bought the game and stopped playing will want to revisit Fallout 76. Bethesda has just announced Wastelanders, the biggest free update for Fallout 76 since launch. The main highlight of the update is the addition of human NPCs.

Wastelanders is coming to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on April 7, but the good news is when the update launches on April 7, Fallout 76 will also make its way onto Steam for the first time. Apart from fully voiced NPCs that will bring new life to Appalachia, a new main quest will be added, which will force players to forge new alliances and manage their reputation with competing factions, while uncovering the truth of what's hidden in the mountains.

Wastelanders will have players uncover the secrets of West Virginia by playing through an all-new main quest as well as a revamped original main questline, with friends or solo, starting from the moment they leave Vault 76. Regardless of whether you're a new or veteran player, you'll be able to take on new missions, explore new locations and fight with (or against) the new faces that have made their long-awaited return to West Virginia.

The update will also add new creatures and gear, as well as a new reputation system where decisions will affect a player's standing with each faction. While Fallout 76 players will not need to purchase any additional content to play Wastelanders when it launches, Bethesda will offer to purchase two Faction-themed content bundles, as well as a combination bundle, which will give players access to exclusive cosmetic and C.A.M.P. items.
