Michael Jackson died in 2009 of an accidental overdose, after his personal physician administered to him a dose of Propofol bigger than his body could handle. In the years since, the Michael Jackson Estate released documentaries and new music, managing to turn him into the most successful dead celebrity.

The fascination with the late King of Pop is far from faded, especially with what must have happened in his final days, as he was struggling to cope with the pressure of delivering his big comeback and of getting back into the spotlight he hated so much.

This will be turned into a new TV series on Warner Bros. Television Group, as part of a new deal signed with producer and author Tavis Smiley, Deadline reports.

In June 2016, Smiley will release the book “Before You Judge Me: The Triumph and Tragedy of Michael Jackson’s Last Days,” which will serve as the starting point for the new series.

The book isn’t an official biography, so expect the resulting series to be dramatic and packed with sensationalistic elements, which may or may not sit well with Michael’s loyal fans. The trade publication describes “Before You Judge Me” as “a taut novelistic rendering of the final months in the life of the iconic pop star.”

No air date for the new show has been made public, but it’s probably safe to assume it won’t be out before the book. Plus, Smiley has his hands full right now, developing a Martin Luther King miniseries the same network.
