The coming wave of virtual reality devices will die or prosper on the strength of their software line-up, and it seems that Sony is determined to have some very solid titles available when its own PlayStation VR is finally launched in October of this year.

The company has just confirmed that a Star Wars Battlefront experience is being created for its platform, a direct result of the long-term deal that links it with Electronic Arts.

Limited details are offered at the moment, but the product will be a cinematic gaming experience, which might be a sign that limited player control will be offered and that the focus will be on showing off the impressive sights and sounds of the title created by DICE.

The PlayStation VR will also receive a Supermassive video game called Tumble VR, presumably this year, which is designed to offer a new take on the title that was first delivered on the PS3 to show off the Move controller.

Simon Harris, an executive producer, explains on the PS Blog that, "When you pull the PlayStation VR headset on it places you in a virtual arena specifically designed to test your physical dexterity and mental skills. Working your way through a gauntlet of tests from simply building a tower to creating bridges, or even working out fiendish puzzles, Tumble VR will push your skills and brainpower to the limit."

PlayStation VR Worlds features five virtual reality experiences

The package is being created by the Sony London Studio, and all the titles have been created to use the main features of Sony's VR platform.

The London Heist will use either dual Move controllers of the DualShock 4 as gamers get to experience a classic high stakes robbery and try to make sure that they escape with their loot.

Into the Deep is described as an emotional underwater rollercoaster which allows players to explore the world beneath the waves and to feel the terror associated with the darkness of the deep sea.

VR Luge features illegal street racing, and Danger Ball introduces a futuristic sport that only makes sense in virtual reality.

The final element of PlayStation VR Worlds is called Scavenger’s Odyssey, a science fiction adventure that takes place inside a cab.

The PlayStation VR platform will cost gamers 399 dollars or Euro, which makes it the most attractive VR option at the moment, cheaper than the Oculus Rift or the Vive from Valve and HTC.
