Immediately after announcing the release of the VMware Workstation 12.0 and VMware Player 10.2 virtualization software for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems, the company published details about VMware Fusion 8 and Fusion 8 Pro.

Probably the most important feature of VMWare Fusion 8 and Fusion 8 Pro is full support for Microsoft's recently released Windows 10 operating system, allowing Mac OS X users to use Microsoft's brand new Edge web browser, as well as the Cortana virtual assistant, which can run in the background at all times.

Another great feature introduced in the new VMware Fusion 8 and Fusion 8 Pro virtualization software is the ability to run the development versions of OS X 10.11 El Capitan in a virtual machine, so you can see the new features Apple prepared for its mighty Mac OS X operating system.

"Today we are pleased to announce the worldwide availability of the VMware Fusion 8 and VMware Fusion 8 Pro," says Michael Roy. "These releases mark a milestone achievement for our team within VMware, with fantastic new features and improvements in several areas."

iMac Retina 5K, DirectX 10, and OpenGL 3.3 support

Among other interesting features integrated in VMware Fusion 8 and Fusion 8 Pro, we can mention an updated graphics stack with support for the DirectX 10 and OpenGL 3.3 technologies, support for the latest Mac hardware, including the powerful iMac Retina 5K computer, native vCloud Air integration, and improved vSphere integration.

It is worth noting that the integration of VMware vSphere into VMware Fusion 8 Pro allows users to create remote virtual machines on vCenter Server or ESXi instances. Both VMware Fusion 8 and VMware Fusion 8 Pro software are available for purchase right now from the VMware website for the sum of $79.99 (€81,95) and $199.99 (€200,95) respectively. Existing users will be able to upgrade at a great price.
