As expected, Chinese company Vivo has taken the wraps off its flagship Android smartphone, the X6. However, Vivo X6 doesn't come alone, but with an enhanced version that will be available on the market as X6Plus.

According to Vivo, both smartphones will be launched in China on December 7. Customers will be able to purchase the Vivo X6 for 2,600 yen outright, which is about $390 or €385. The smartphone will also be available at China Unicom for just 2,500 yen.

On the other hand, Vivo X6Plus will be available in the Mainland for no less than 3,200 yen ($500 / €475) upfront. This one will go on sale at China Unicom as well, but it will cost 3,000 yen.

It's unclear whether or not these smartphones will be available for purchase outside China, but we suspect many Chinese retailers will have either of Vivo's handsets on sale in just a few days after its official release in the country.

Before we take a closer look at what Vivo's latest high-end smartphones have to offer in terms of hardware, it's worth mentioning they will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.

Not as powerful as we have expected

Vivo X6 comes with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, but the X6Plus version boasts a much larger 5.7-inch display with similar resolution.

On the inside, both smartphones come equipped with octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processors, Mali-T760 graphics processing units and 4GB of RAM.

However, Vivo X6 packs 32GB of internal memory, whereas the X6Plus models comes with no less than 64GB storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

Also, both handsets come with the same dual-camera combo: 13-megapixel rear-facing photo snapper and an 8-megapixel selfie camera in the front.

Vivo X6Plus drains energy from a high-capacity 3,000 mAh battery while the standard model packs a much smaller 2,400 mAh battery.

Last but not least, both Vivo smartphones come with fingerprint sensors, dual-SIM support and full anodized aluminum-magnesium bodies.
