The migration from Twitter to alternative platforms is real and happening, with Mastodon apparently the main service to benefit from this transition.

With the adoption of Mastodon therefore on the rise, it’s no surprise that Vivaldi, the browser that excels in terms of customization features and privacy controls, is now offering direct integration into Vivaldi Social.

In other words, it’s now much easier to access Mastodon from Vivaldi following the update to version 5.6.

“While you’ll find Vivaldi Social in the Panel of the browser, you can also add any Mastodon instance of your choice as a Web Panel to this sidebar. By doing so, the website or any Mastodon instance is displayed within the side panel of your browser, creating a split-screen view,” the Vivaldi team explains.

More great tab controls

Then, Vivaldi 5.6 introduces a new cool feature for users who run a million tabs while browsing the web. Starting with this version, it’s now possible to pin full stacks of tabs.

“You can even pin a stack (group) of tabs. Just right-click on the Tab Stack and select the pin option from the context menu and free up the space an entire stack uses on the tab bar. In functionality unique to Vivaldi, you can pin Tabs Stacks no matter how you prefer to use Tab Stacking – whether open in two rows (Two-level Tab Stacks), Accordion style, or Compact,” the changelog for the latest version reads.

Vivaldi 5.6 also introduces a new Settings page, as well as You.com, a new private search engine that can be configured as the default option in the browser

Needless to say, the new version of the browser is available for download right now on all supported desktop platforms, including Windows, Linux, and macOS.
