Tab hoarders, rejoice: accordion tabs are coming to Vivaldi

If you’re a tab hoarder, then you certainly know how hard it is to work with tens of tabs open at the same time, despite all the improvements that modern browsers have received lately.

Vivaldi, on the other hand, has always tried to offer a different approach that makes working with and managing a big number of tabs as straightforward as possible.

If you’re familiar with Vivaldi’s feature lineup, you probably love Tab Stacks already. This advanced feature makes it possible to group as many tabs as you want in categories that could be displayed either in a compact UI with small indicators above the tab bar or using a two-level UI (this one coming in particularly handy on larger screens).

But starting with Vivaldi 4.1, users are getting a third option called Accordion.

What this feature does is to allow you to expand and collapse a tab stack with a simple click, making everything so much faster and, at some level, a lot easier to work with tens of tabs (unless you’re already super-familiar with one of the options mentioned above).

“Normally, Inactive accordions are compressed when you view other tabs. If you click an accordion, it expands to the right, instead of expanding down into Two-level stacks. When you click away from the accordion group, it will close again. If you want the accordion to stay expanded, double-click it when opening. Then, to close, use the arrow to close the accordion manually or double-click a tab in it to make it auto-close,” Vivaldi explains.

You can enable Accordion Tabs from the settings screen of Vivaldi.

Hello, Command Chains!

Vivaldi 4.1 also comes with Command Chains, a new feature whose purpose is to allow you to configure automations by grouping together multiple commands that you can run with just a single click.

There are more than 200 browser commands supported y Vivaldi, so you can combine them to make everything so much easier. It all comes down to your needs, as theoretically, you can create any automation as long as the commands are supported by Vivaldi in the first place.

The new version also comes with a small update for the Reader View, as a minute counter displays how long it takes to read a specific page.
