New version of the Android browser is now up for grabs

Vivaldi has released a new version of its Android browser, and as it’s the case with all the other major updates released for either the mobile or the desktop app, it comes with plenty of notable improvements.

This time, the main focus has been the way we work with tabs, as Vivaldi 4.1 introduces a bunch of new capabilities that allow users to customize the browsing experience in a way that better responds to their needs.

First and foremost, there are several new tab settings, with users now allowed to configure the position of the new tab launched in the browser. Thanks to the addition of these configuration options, you can now open new tabs after related tabs, after active tabs, as last tab, as a tab stack with related tabs.

Stay in Vivaldi

Then, Vivaldi 4.1 also comes with a dedicated switch to enable or disable Tab Stacks.

“Tab Stacks let you group multiple tabs into the space of a single tab, so there is less clutter in your Tab Switcher. When you tap on a Stack, you can access all the tabs inside it,” the Vivaldi team explains.

“In this update, we’ve got more reasons for you to work with tabs. If you prefer Tab Stacks (groups) to stay organized, you can easily enable them (off by default to avoid annoyance to those who prefer not using them). As with everything else in Vivaldi, they can be disabled if you prefer.”

But the star of the show this time is a feature called “Stay in browser.” As you could easily guess by simply reading its name, what this feature does is force links to open in Vivaldi rather than in dedicated apps on your Android devices.

So for example, if tapping a YouTube video typically closes the browser and launches the dedicated YouTube app, enabling this option prevents this from happening, in turn opening the mobile version of YouTube in Vivaldi without leaving the browser.
