The development cycle of the Vivaldi 1.7 web browser is nearing completion, and Ruarí Ødegaard is today informing us about the availability of a new snapshot that addresses several regressions and implements a couple of new features.

The Vivaldi developer working on the Linux port of the Chromium-based web browser is reporting that the team is closing in on the final Vivaldi 1.7, and Vivaldi Browser Snapshot 1.7.735.27 is here to focus on addressing the most important and critical regressions to offer users a polished, stable, and reliable release.

These include better Chromecast support, support for the Capture page to work on macOS platforms using its native menu, as well as the ability to turn off the search functionality in the address field. It also looks like users will be able to delete typed history in the private data.

As for the new features implemented in Vivaldi Browser Snapshot 1.7.735.27, we can mention an increase of the maximum capture height of the Capture page from 20,000 to 30,000, and the ability to insert selected areas of a website into your notes using the built-in screenshot tool.

"Screenshots often replace the written communication in our lives and built-in screenshot functionality in Vivaldi only makes your browsing easier. We have received some great feedback on this feature and we have added another dimension to it. This time it is in the Notes panel," said Ruarí Ødegaard, Linux QA and Testing at Vivaldi.

Vivaldi 1.7 to be released in the coming days

There are a few other minor bugs that have been resolved in this new snapshot of the Vivaldi 1.7 web browser, such as that wrong notification that would appear when capturing an entire web page to clipboard via the status bar button, and you can check out the entire changelog, for more details, at the end of the article.

According to Mr. Ødegaard, Vivaldi 1.7 is just around the corner, and it could arrive very soon. But, until that happens, you can download and test Vivaldi Browser Snapshot 1.7.735.27 for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from our website. Don't hesitate to report any bugs you might encounter!

We remind you that the development of Vivaldi 1.7 produced a total of seven snapshots until today. These added a bunch of interesting new features like the new screenshot tool, more powerful commands for controlling noisy tabs, mappable keyboard shortcuts for the screenshot utility, and many more. Vivaldi 1.7 will be based on Chromium 56.
