We’re pretty sure Leo Messi is not using a Windows phone, but fortunately, someone at Spanish football club FC Barcelona has such a device, so they made the decision to launch the official app, until now available on Android and iOS, on Microsoft’s mobile platform as well.

The FC Barcelona app that can be downloaded from the Windows Store is not a universal app, so it works only on Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 Mobile, but it’s still a pretty neat way to stay up to date with all the information you can get on your favorite team.

Just as expected, because this is pretty much the case with the majority of apps developed by football clubs around the world, you get the typical feature package, like news for all of the club’s teams, as well as access to Barca VIDEO, which is their own video service hosting match highlights and interviews.

Live scores and notifications

Additionally, there’s a sports selector, which, according to the official description of the app, lets you choose the team you want to follow, as it supports soccer, Barça B, Women’s Soccer, Basketball, Handball, Futsal, and Roller Hockey.

There’s also access to real-time scores and match reports, and this is quite a handy feature if you’re not using more advanced apps like SofaScore, as well as notifications to let you know whenever MSN manages to score another goal.

And last but not least, users are allowed to buy tickets for new matches, see results and match schedules, and get updates on favorite players. The access to the FCB store allows fans to purchase official merchandise straight from their mobile phone.

Without a doubt, this is an important addition to the Windows Store, mostly because so many other developers decided to abandon Microsoft’s mobile platform, so if you’re a Barca fan, go ahead and download the official FC Barcelona app for Windows Phone right now.
