Mashup trailers are awesome because they show the imagination and skills of true movie buffs, but also because they offer a fascinating way to pass the time until the films for which the trailers were released come out.

Perhaps one of the best “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice”-based mashup is today’s suggestion for Viral of the Day, a fan-made faux trailer that adds “The Social Network” into the mix and turns Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, into the real villain.

This one will particularly please those who believe social media comes at the too high cost of actual communication with real-life people, creating all kinds of monsters who would do or say anything for attention, likes or retweets. Kind of like that woman fraud from Australia who claimed she was dying from brain cancer and cured it by eating wholefoods: Belle Gibson.

That she deceived millions of people and got rich off it wasn’t even the worst part of that sordid tale. The worst part was that she talked actual cancer sufferers into ditching their treatment, in the hope that they too might “cure” the disease with wholefoods and exercise.

With an abundance of cases like this one, no wonder Zuckerberg is made into the real villain in this mashup. “This means something. It’s all some people have. It’s all that gives them hope,” Lois Lane says of Facebook.

In “Batman V. Superman,” which comes out in March 2016, the villain is Superman. Jesse Eisenberg, who played Zuckerberg, will appear as Lex Luthor.
