Body shaming is very bad, actor says on social media

Vin Diesel, like many actors in Hollywood, likes to have a good time, unwind and indulge in favorite treats when he’s in between projects and doesn’t have to be in top “action movie star” shape. He’s also 48, so whatever excess he gives in to becomes immediately visible on his body and face.

Last week, paparazzi photos of Vin Diesel on the balcony in his hotel in Miami started making the rounds and getting a lot of attention. You can see why from the 2 samples included in the gallery below: seeing the actor with a beer gut is not something that happens every day - or ever, for that matter.

Vin Diesel has a “dad bod”

Right now (but also at the time the photos were taken), Diesel is promoting the film “The Last Witch Hunter,” which explains why he looks very tired. As for the beer gut, that’s probably due to the fact that he’s in between shooting action movies and he allowed himself a breather from what must be a strenuous workout and diet routine.

The bottom line is that Vin Diesel has a “dad bod,” which is a new term the Internet assigned to this type of figure, which usually belongs to a father who was once in mint physical condition. Or, as Urban Dictionary defines it, “A guy who has kids and was once in shape and still has guns that can crush beer cans but also with a belly that says I drank those beers and I can eat 6 slices of pizza in one seating.”

As it so happens, the actor is proud of his dad bod, and he will even show it to you if you ask nicely. All in the name of shaming those fat-shamers who tried to bully him online, of course.

Vin Diesel proudly owns his dad bod

Diesel attended the New York Comic-Con over the weekend, and as you can see from his 2 Instagram posts below, he took the time to talk to the media about all the buzz his recent shirtless pictures had caused online.

He stressed that body-shaming was never a good thing and even agreed to show off his dad bod to one journalist who asked him to. He only did it so people would know he was proud of it, he said.

It is amazing the response from the journalists who I have been talking to for the last two days in New York. Today one wanted to see the dad bod. Haha. I am wondering if I should show the picture... Body-shaming is always wrong! What do you think? #LastWitchHunter A photo posted by Vin Diesel (@vindiesel) on Oct 10, 2015 at 8:25pm PDT

The pic from yesterday... For those who wanted the show... For all the angels that love dad bod regardless... I will post an exclusive video on my Facebook when I am done with press today. #LastWitchHunter #HappyCreative A photo posted by Vin Diesel (@vindiesel) on Oct 11, 2015 at 11:49am PDT
