It’s only been a few days since Chinese company Vernee, a relatively new player in the smartphone business, announced plans to launch a 6GB RAM handset, the Apollo.

Along with Vernee Apollo that we talked about yesterday, the Chinese OEM wishes to launch a second mid-range smartphone called Thor.

At the time of the report we did not have much information about the Thor, just a few details about its specs sheet. However, the folks over at GizChina claim Vernee Thor won’t be just a simple mid-range Android smartphone.

The Chinese company wants to team up with Uber for the launch of Thor. If both companies agree to the start partnership, Vernee Thor could be world’s first Uber-certified smartphone.

Unfortunately, for the time being, details are scarce about what Uber-related software the smartphone will include, but it’s most likely a few themes and some apps will come preloaded on the Thor.

Octa-core CPU, 5-inch HD display

When it comes to specs, Vernee Thor is a very decent mid-range smartphone that should be released sometime in April. There’s no word on price, but we can expect Vernee to price this one aggressively.

Hardware-wise, the Thor is said to come equipped with an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor inside, paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. There’s no mention of microSD card slot, so we can’t confirm users will be able to expand storage.

Vernee Thor will sport a decent 5-inch capacitive touchscreen On-cell display that supports HD (720p) resolution. At the back, the smartphone will pack a 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there should be a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

It’s unclear what version of Android the Thor will run, but we do know the smartphone will be powered by a 2,800 mAh battery.
