Customers can't activate new service, new line or a new SIM

We reported last week that Verizon Wireless confirmed that customers would be able to easily activate their unlocked Motorola Moto X Pure Edition devices on its network.

The information has been confirmed by the carrier, but it looks like in reality things are a little bit different.

After stating that “customers who purchase the Moto X Pure Edition from Motorola will be able to activate it fine on our network,” Verizon is now claiming otherwise.

Many of those who purchased the Motorola Moto X Pure Edition and tried to activate a new service, new line, or a new SIM with Verizon, noticed that it couldn't be done.

The folks over at Droid-Life have reached out to Verizon once again for another statement on this issues, which seems to affect all those who are trying to activate a new line.

They also got an answer that confirms the issue and promises a solution as well. It says the following: “Moto X Pure Edition is certified and supported for activation on Verizon’s network. We are working with Motorola to resolve the activation issue by Friday Sept. 18.”

You won't have issues if you already have an activated SIM from another phone

So, those who own an unlocked Motorola Moto X Pure Edition and have been trying, unsuccessfully, to activate it on Verizon should try again later this week.

It's also worth mentioning that if you already have an activated Verizon nanoSIM from another smartphone, you won't have any issues using it with your Motorola Moto X Pure Edition because it won't require you to activate it again.

That being said, we expect the Big Red to issue another statement on September 18 confirming that the issue has been addressed and that Moto X Pure Edition owners are finally able to activate a new line or a new SIM with the smartphone. Stay tuned for more on this one.
