Motorola DROID Turbo 2 is one of the most recent Android smartphones launched by the US-based handset maker. The handset made its debut at Verizon Wireless back in October with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.

However, Motorola confirmed that the smartphone would receive an upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the coming months. Today, the folks over at Droid-Life report Motorola DROID Turbo 2 has started to receive the highly anticipated Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

There's a catch though, as the update is only available for Verizon employees. Apparently, Motorola and the Big Red have decided to offer the upgrade to a select number of DROID Turbo 2 owners, which means it won't be available for everyone yet.

The good news is the Android 6.0 Marshmallow should start rolling out to all DROID Turbo 2 devices in the coming days, if nothing wrong happens during this soak test.

If you own the DROID Turbo 2 Employee Edition, then you are now eligible for an Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade.

It should take 35 hours for the update to complete

According to the screenshots leaked, the entire upgrading process should take around 35 minutes, so make sure your phone's battery is at least 50% charged before attempting to update.

With Android 6.0 Marshmallow, DROID Turbo 2 owners will be provided with many new features and improvements such as Doze, as well as the new Moto suite of apps.

In other news, the DROID Turbo 2 is not the only Motorola smartphone that is now getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow, as the handset maker announced the Moto X Pure Edition and Moto X Style are now eligible for the update as well.

We expect many other Motorola smartphones to start receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates beginning early next year, so stay tuned for more on this one.
