Mortal Shell is one of the most anticipated games of this year if you like soulslike games. The upcoming title borrows so many things from Dark Souls series that it's becoming a must-play game for fans of the sub-genre even before release.

Although the action-RPG is developed by a small indie-team of development veterans, Mortal Shell looks and feels like a triple-A title. A new gameplay trailer was showcased recently, which focuses on one of the game's four playable shells (classes).

We also get to see more gameplay from the beginning of the game as well as a glimpse at some of the bosses. According to developers, Mortal Shell should take between 15 and 20 hours to complete, although the game offers additional secrets and content to support multiple playthroughs. Not to mention that playing with different shells greatly increases the replayability factor.

The primary goals of our studio are to make Mortal Shell the best game it can be and to live another day and keep making awesome games in the future. Epic's financial support, for a small studio like ours, was clearly going to help us achieve those goals so it was something we had to consider earnestly,” said the founders of Cold Symmetry in a joint statement.

As far as the release goes, the fine folks at Cold Symmetry announced that Mortal Shell would ship on the Epic Games Store this year as a timed PC-exclusive at $29.99 / €29.99 / £24.99, along with simultaneous console releases on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

In fact, you can already pre-order the PC version of the game on the Epic Games Store. If you absolutely must own Mortal Shell on Steam, you'll have to wait until Q3 2021. By the way, the game doesn't have an exact release date yet, but we do know it will be out in Q3 2020.
