The sequel to Blue Reflection, the JRPG launched back in 2017, has just been confirmed to arrive on November 9. Dubbed Blue Reflection: Second Light, the game will be released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC (via Steam). Although the game won't be specifically built for next-generation consoles, it will be playable on PlayStation 5 via Backward Compatibility.

Developed by Gust Studios, the same team behind the Atelier series, Blue Reflection: Second Light follows the adventures of three students – Ao Hoshizaki, Kokoro Utsubo, and Yuki Kinjou – who find themselves transported to a mysterious floating academy, searching for clues to find their way back home, with only their names as memories.

The first game stands out thanks to its unique combat system but failed to achieve greatness due to the disappointing visuals and low-budget presentation. Hopefully, the sequel will address these complaints and improve on the original.

In that regard, Koei Tecmo announced that famed illustrator Mel Kishida is once again contributing to the franchise’s character designs, which will enrich not just the upcoming Blue Reflection: Second Light game, but also the Blue Reflection: Ray anime series.

In Blue Reflection: Second Light, players will battle fiendish creatures to unlock unknown powers that only seem to deepen the cryptic nature of their surroundings. Throughout the adventure, the three protagonists cooperate and struggle to make their everyday life as rich and as fun as possible.

Moreover, the three friends will be able to build their ideal academy throughout the game, as well as craft items together, and depending on the character combinations, the completed item’s properties can change, even triggering special conversations.

Last but not least, by deepening their friendships, the three students will eventually grow closer to the mystery of this world and the reason why they lost their memories.

Alongside the reveal of the release date, Koei Tecmo outed a brand new trailer that offers fans of the franchise a glimpse at what they can expect when Blue Reflection: Second Light launches on November 9.
