Sony unveiled its latest smartphones, the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact, during IFA 2016 held in Berlin. Pre-orders for the Xperia XZ went live several days ago and it seems that the phone is finally available for purchase on Amazon.

Unlocked Sony Xperia XZ carries a price tag of $699.99 and, currently, only a few units are left on the website. To be more precise, twelve black Xperia XZ units are in stock, while the silver Xperia XZ seems to sell better, with only 6 units left in stock.

Amazon mentions that more units will be made available soon, as the stock will be replenished. However, the blue color variant of the Xperia XZ, which appeared during pre-orders, is not listed on the page. It might be made available at a later date.

One thing that's worth mentioning is that the smartphone won't be coming with a fingerprint scanner in the US, as compared to the units sold in Europe.

Xperia XZ will receive Android 7.0 Nougat update soon

The unlocked variant of the Xperia XZ will be made available at other retailers in the coming days. The smartphone has a 5.2-inch FHD display with Gorilla Glass 4 on top, for protection against display scratches and drops. It runs a Snapdragon 820 chipset, one of the latest models from Qualcomm and one that's found in many flagships on the market.

Adreno 530 graphics processing unit is found inside, together with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of local storage, expandable to 256GB with a microSD card. Rear camera capacity reaches 23MP with f/2.3 aperture and 24mm wide Sony G lens.

The powerful camera has the capacity to record 4k videos. A 22mm wide-angle lens and f/2.0 aperture are found on the 13MP front camera. The device draws power from a 2,900mAh battery and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. The Xperia XZ will be one of the first Sony devices to receive Android 7.0 Nougat before the end of the month.
