Alleged hands-on photos with iPhone XS emerge

Apple will take the wraps off the new-generation iPhone models in just a few hours, and here we are with a new leak supposed to provide us with a little preview ahead of today’s unveiling.

The photos you see here claim to reveal the upcoming iPhone XS, which according to all the reports that made the rounds lately, is likely to be the name of the iPhone X successor that Apple would launch today.

What’s important to know, however, is that there’s a good chance this leak is actually fake, as the photos you see here could be just an iPhone X with the wallpaper that has previously been spotted in other leaks.

While it’s hard to tell whether they are authentic or not, the images published on Weibo are at least close to what we’re going to see on the iPhone XS.

The 2018 model wouldn’t be too different from the original iPhone X, that’s for sure, as the new 5.8-inch configuration will be more about under-the-hood upgrades and less about cosmetic refinements.

Upgraded iPhone X

While in terms of looks the iPhone XS may not be too different from its predecessor, the magic will take place in the hardware department.

The device will be upgraded to Apple’s new A12 chip, likely to offer increased performance with a reduced impact on battery life, and 4GB RAM, a first for the Apple device lineup.

iPhone XS is projected to launch with a vertically-mounted dual-camera system on the back, just like the iPhone X, and feature an edge-to-edge screen with a notch at the top for Face ID. The fingerprint sensor wouldn’t be brought back, and Face ID will continue to be Apple’s only unlocking method.

The new model is expected to go up on pre-order on Friday, while shipments may start on September 21, which is the next Friday.
