Now that Canonical is seeding the Ubuntu Touch OTA-10 update to all supported Ubuntu Phone devices, and most of the users already updated their smartphones, it looks like some issues started appearing.

Canonical's Łukasz Zemczak reports today that many BQ Aquaris owners complained about slowness of the Unity8 interface after updating to OTA-10. "So far the only worrying issue reported by users is the shell slowness on BQ devices. Our developers are working on fixes for those," said Mr. Zemczak.

Moreover, it appears that a security issue has been discovered in the OTA-10 images, and the Ubuntu Touch team is working overtime this weekend to get a patch soon and re-release the OTA-10 update to all users. So if you see an update notification again in the next few hours, please apply the update immediately.

OTA-10.1 point release might be available soon

As for the "shell slowness" issue on BQ devices, and other minor problems reported by users who updated to OTA-10, Canonical's employees are doing their best to fix them as soon as possible, and they are already considering preparing a point release OTA in the coming days or weeks, depending on how many issues are found there.

The OTA-10 software update for Canonical's Ubuntu mobile OS was a major one, and we've already told you everything there is know about the features that it brings. The unofficial OnePlus One port also received the latest OTA update today, along with the official Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 devices.

So again, please check to see if there's an update pending for your device in the coming hours, or tomorrow morning, and apply it as soon as possible. Next week, we shall have more news about the upcoming OTA hotfix.
