After the success of Mario + Rabbids Battle of Kingdoms, the collaboration between Nintendo and Ubisoft is bringing fans of the beloved franchises yet another Switch exclusive game, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.

Revealed over the weekend during Ubisoft Forward, the game is set to land on Nintendo Switch in 2022. The game features a brand new story but has the same actors: Mario, Princess Peach, Luigi, Rabbid Mario, and Rabbid Peach.

Besides the “usual suspects,” Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Home brings along some new faces to take on a mysterious entity, known as Cursa, and its minions. This time around, Mario, his friends, and the Rabbids crew will have to travel throughout the galaxy to save planets, rescue the Sparks, and defeat Cursa.

Those who've played the previous title in the series will probably be happy to learn that Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope features a new combat system. The game lets players form a team of three Heroes (from a roster of nine), but this time, battles unfold through a mixture of real-time action and turn-based tactics.

Ubisoft explains that players can move their heroes freely in a designated area and take cover, team jump on allies, or dash at enemies, all in real-time within the Hero's turn. On top of that, the game introduces the so-called Sparks, powerful creatures that have distinct powers and abilities. Players will be able to use their special abilities and powers in battle, but they will first need to locate and rescue them as they visit each planet in the game.

That's all we know about Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, but Ubisoft promised more details about their Nintendo Switch exclusive game closer to release. Speaking of release, no exact launch date has been given, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
