Ubisoft revealed Far Cry New Dawn, a direct sequel to the immensely popular Far Cry 5, is set to launch on February 15, 2019, for all available platforms.

When Ubisoft chose Montana for Far Cry 5, a lot of people were upset, mostly because the developers switched from made up places to more familiar territory. But it turns out that they had a plan in mind.

It’s more difficult to care about a nuclear catastrophe in some remote place that doesn’t even exist. On the other hand, if your character has to survive in a post-apocalyptic environment 17 years after the events in Far Cry 5, in Montana, US, things might be a little easier to accept.

More like Fallout

With just a simple twist, Far Cry becomes Fallout. Now that Far Cry New Dawn takes places in a post-apocalyptic world, things start to look more like Fallout. And, it turns out that the new game is no longer just a first-person shooter where players are running around, from one objective to another.

“The Homebase, called Prosperity, is the stronghold of the Survivors. Here, players can craft makeshift weapons and vehicles and train their Guns for Hire – including new and familiar faces. As players progress, they can upgrade the Homebase for more powerful weapons and gear. The Homebase is also a launchpad to Expeditions, where for the first time in Far Cry, the adventure is more than local,” says Ubisoft.

A new threat is looming, and the new enemies are called the Highwaymen, who are led by a couple of twin sisters called Mickey and Lou. If past games are any indication, they villainy will be absolute.

The game is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X and Windows PC, on February 15.
