M.U.T.E. Protocol is the name of the most recent limited-time event that debuts in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 Season 2. Before diving in, you may want to know that the event brings a fresh new take on the Secure Area game mode, based in a futuristic version of the Tower map.

Hopefully, the event will be fun enough to push people to play through it over and over again since it will last for exactly two weeks. It starts today, August 4 and will end on August 17, so there's plenty of time to experience everything the event it has to offer.

During the event, players will clash each other in a futuristic sci-fi inspired 5-vs.-5 mode where attackers will fly in, trying to shutdown M.U.T.E Protocol by any means necessary. On the other hand, defenders must hold up in Comm Tower, defending it at all costs.

More importantly, 41 Operators will be available to play, with a few exceptions for gameplay reasons such as Twitch, Thatcher, Mozzie, Mute, Maestro, Valkyrie, Dokkaebi, Echo, Goyo, Clash, Montagne, Blitz and Caveira which won’t be available.

The changes made to the map and mode are meant to introduce something new even for players who are used to playing Secure Area, as M.U.T.E. Protocol’s new game mode is unique. In that regard, Ubisoft has added a brand-new feature called Morphing.

On the attacking side, players will have to secure two areas and will be able to switch between Operator and Drone forms by entering and exiting Observation Tools. On the defending side, Operators will be able to use bulletproof cameras to travel digitally through the network.

It' also important to add that the M.U.T.E. Protocol event comes with its own collection of 26 items, featuring exclusive customizations for Jackal, Lion, Ying, Kapkan, Mira, Mute, Oryx and Vigil. These high-tech stylings are the same as those players will be able to find in-game by picking these Operators to play the Event.

Inside the packs, players will also find some signature items, including the event’s signature weapon skin, exclusive to this collection. Last but not least, players can earn M.U.T.E Protocol packs through a special Event Challenge or by purchasing packs for 300 R6 Credits or 12500 Renown. Each Operator’s exclusive, time-limited customization items are available for purchase as Bundles in the Shop section for 1680 R6 Credits each. Year 5 Pass owners will have a 10% discount on individual bundles and Pack prices.
