After being leaked last week, Far Cry 6 was officially unveiled during the Ubisoft Forward games event. Although the cinematic trailer doesn't reveal anything about the gameplay, we do get to see the main villain and when the game will be out.

Before you get your hopes too high, let's clarify that Far Cry 6 will not be released this year. Ubisoft confirmed that the game will be out on February 18, 2021, on all compatible platforms including PC (via Epic Store, uPlay and Uplay+), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Stadia.

If you haven't seen the cinematic trailer, you'll be happy to know that Far Cry 6 will feature Emmy Award nominee Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul, The Boys, The Mandalorian) as President Anton Castillo, the violent leader who grips the island of Yara with an iron fist.

In Far Cry 6 players must take on Castillo's regime and fight for the future of Yara, using a wide range of weapons. For the first time in the series, players can pick a female or male character, as they will help stoke the fires of revolution through guerilla warfare across the island.

Besides using an arsenal of weapons, Dany Rojas, the protagonist will be able to build a network of allies to fight alongside him/her, including Fangs for Hire like Chorizo, a seemingly very dangerous wiener dog.

Although it releases next year, Far Cry 6 is already available for pre-order and those who purchase the game on current-generation consoles will be able to upgrade their version to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X at no cost. Also, players who pre-order will receive the Libertad pack, which includes the Libertad outfit for Chorizo and the Discos Locos, a weaponized disc launcher.

Naturally, multiple editions of the game are now available for pre-order, such as The Gold Edition, The Ultimate Edition, and The Collector's Edition.
