Great news for Twitter users, as developers have just announced the addition of one of the most requested features: live video. The new feature will be rolled out to Android and iOS devices over the coming days, so don't fret if it's not available for you right away.

Twitter is among the last major social network services that allow users to broadcast live video straight within their mobile applications.

Starting today, Twitter users who got the latest update on their phones will be able to create and tweet live video from their Twitter application, powered by Periscope.

In order to benefit from the new feature, you will have to tap on the “LIVE” option, which should bring you to pre-broadcast screen when you can frame your shot. As soon as you're ready, make sure to tap on the “Go Live” tab to start broadcasting.

It's also worth mentioning that once you go live with your video broadcast, anyone on Twitter and Periscope will be able to join your live video session, and even participate in your experience.

Commenting on live videos is possible, but Twitter users can also send hearts by tapping the screen. The hearts are supposed to show your support for the broadcast, so use them whenever you think it's worth it.

Live video brings moments and events to life in a way that no other medium can. Exploring a new city? Find yourself in the middle of something amazing? Celebrating your team’s big end of season win? Go live on Twitter and let others experience it with you,” says Twitter in an official statement.

As some of you might already know, all live streams will show up in the Periscope application, but also in followers' Twitter feed.

Keep in mind, though, that you won't need to have the Periscope application installed on your phone in order to take advantage of the live video feature in Twitter.
