The app will integrate into the Mac desktop

During the Twitter Flight Developer Conference that took place on October 21, 2015 at the Bill Graham Auditorium in San Francisco, USA, Twitter announced that they were preparing a revamp of the Twitter for Mac application.

Finally! For us, this is the best news we've got since the release of the iPhone 6 device. We mean, come on, Twitter, that app has not been updated in… we don't even know since when, years?

Yeah, it received some minor tweaks a couple of months back, and some other small, under-the-hood improvements some time ago, who knows when, but its look and feel have become quite unpopular among OS X users, forcing them to look elsewhere.

Not to mention that it's missing features that are available in the Twitter for iOS app, such as support for that recently launched "retweet with comment" feature. You can't see those in the Twitter for Mac app.

The TechCrunch editorial stuff was present at the Twitter Flight Developer Conference event, and they report that Twitter presented on stage the upcoming Twitter for Mac app, which promises a revamped user interface.

Besides revamping the UI, Twitter prepared some awesome new features for Twitter for Mac, such as desktop integration, in-line Vine and video playback, group Direct Messages support, as well as support for attaching photos in in-line replies and DMs.

Dark mode, Notification Center highlights

Best of all, the upcoming application, whose date has not yet been confirmed, will come with a cool dark mode, as Vine cofounder Rus Yusupov has revealed in a tweet, and will post highlights in the Notification Center of OS X to keep users up to date at all times.

Unfortunately, we will have to wait a few more months to get it. But, thank you! Thank you, Twitter, for updating the Twitter for Mac app for us, mortals. A Christmas release will be the perfect gift for 2015.
