14 DAY TRIAL // Twitter has decided to take a big step and finally introduce Material Design to its application on Android. The new version starts rolling out today globally, and users can update their Twitter app in the Play Store.
Material Design is a big change for Twitter, but one that comes rather late, considering that Google first introduced it in June 2014, and many popular applications have already adhered to the new guidelines.
Nevertheless, Twitter will be getting a more familiar UI and will feature with the famous floating button that adds extra functionality. The floating button will allow users to post tweets faster, without having to swipe the screen in order to get access to the bar at the bottom.
In fact, Material Design means that Twitter’s bar at the bottom of the screen, the one that has been used for posting tweets, loading images from the gallery or snapping pictures to add to the platform, will be removed completely.
Twitter now comes with a side menu for accessing user profile
Another notable change is the additional side menu on the left, which gives users access to their profile, highlighted tweets, lists, or allows them to connect with other users. The settings menu from the top right corner of the screen has been moved to the side menu where the Help section also resides.
The update adds a tab at the top of the screen as well, one that gives users access to Moments, Notifications, and Direct messages.
Twitter seems keen on making some notable changes to its Android app. Just last month, it was rumored that the company was testing automatic night mode on its Android Alpha Version, but it seems that it decided against introducing this new feature in the latest update. Nevertheless, we expect to see the night mode in upcoming Twitter for Android versions.
