14 DAY TRIAL // Black Legend is an upcoming turn-based tactical RPG set in a dark fantasy world. Developed by Warcave, a Belgian studio founded in 2017, Black Legend will release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2021.
In Black Legend, players must master the art of alchemy while they lead a band of mercenaries into the cursed city of Grant, a metropolis shrouded in a deadly fog. The game's world is directly inspired by folklore and stories from 17th-century Belgium and the Netherlands.
Apart from alchemy, you'll be using steel and close-quarter tactics to battle a deadly cult of fanatics and devout followers of the great alchemist Mephisto, who have taken control of the city. As players explore the city of Grant, they will piece together stories from survivors, discover new equipment and classes for their team, and delve into many locations during your quest to discover how to stop the city’s curse from spreading.
Just like in many turn-based RPGs, Black Legend offers players multiple tactical choices such as unit placement, ability combos, and well-chosen attacks. Although, the game focuses on old school strategy vibes, but without the 95% percent chance misses (yay!).
Players are supposed to mix up their ranged and melee combat by using alchemy for a wide array of explosive effects. By combining stacks of four different alchemic attacks, players can injure, poison, and debilitate their foes.
Black Legend promises extensive character customization builder for mercenary bands with a wide array of classes, each with unique abilities. Players can improve each of their mercenaries with new weapons, armor, and trinkets, and create their own ability sets by equipping cross-class abilities.
Although the game doesn't have a release date yet, PC players can now wishlist Black Legend on Steam to find out when exactly the game comes out.
